In 1973 Bill Fox teamed up with Ron Eden and Ray Harris to form M1 Engineering Ltd. They already had many years of experience designing and building cryogenic vessels and wanted to establish their own independent business. They recruited other experienced staff and set to work manufacturing cryogenic storage tanks, transport equipment and ISO tank containers

They quickly earned a reputation for innovative designs and high build quality. This enabled them to manufacture more specialised equipment made to meet specific client requirements.

After 15 years at the helm and with M1 firmly established in the marketplace, Bill Fox retired. On the 1st January 1989 his son Peter Fox became the new Managing Director.

In 1994 M1 started to implement a 'World Class Manufacturing Programme' throughout the business. After extensive marketing work, M1 decided to focus further in specialised markets where it can use its long experience to push the boundaries of engineering possibilities.

This led to a number of high end products being launched including the Carrymore stainless steel cryogenic semi trailer, the Maximo Cryogenic Container and the aluminium version of the original Carrymore.

As a response to the high demand for these innovative products, a new factory was added to the Bradford site in 2008.
